Promoting engagement with the Bioeconomy
Following its launch last summer and an initial series of events through the autumn and winter, for the year ahead the Bioeconomy Cluster Builder project is planning a series of themed events focussing on sectors which have been identified as having great potential for engaging with the bioeconomy. These groups of events will draw together key stakeholders from sectors including the food and drink industry, fashion and textiles, construction, forestry and aquaculture. Each topic will have an ‘anchor’ scene-setting event followed by smaller targeted activities to help maintain momentum and support Scottish SMEs on their innovation journey.
A key component of each theme will be a workshop structured around KTN’s Innovation Canvas – a tool designed to help SMEs identify and prioritise the steps needed to bring their product or service to market. As part of the offering, participating SMEs with projects which have been identified by KTN’s Industrial Biotechnology team as having the greatest potential will be invited to receive additional support in using the tool.
The calendar kicks off on 13 May with a webinar unpacking the Innovation Canvas and demonstrating its power and effectiveness as a framework for helping businesses create value through innovation.
Then, starting in June, the first series of events will focus on the Scottish food and drink sector. With the anchor event we will gather together voices from business, trade organisations, and beyond to set the scene and examine the opportunities presented by the bioeconomy.
What to expect? Key industry players discussing goals, obstacles and opportunities, review of the policy, regulatory and funding horizon, and contributions from bioeconomy trailblazers in the SME community.
