IBioIC at COP26: A celebration of industrial biotechnology
Tuesday 9 November marked the science and innovation COP26 presidency thematic day. To celebrate this, IBioIC safely hosted over 100 people in the University of Strathclyde’s Technology & Innovation Centre to celebrate industrial biotechnology and its contributions to the net zero ambitions.
The Scottish Government’s Minister for Business Trade Tourism and Enterprise Ivan McKee MSP joined IBioIC’s COP26 fringe event on the day, where the Minister spoke of the industrial biotechnology successes and took questions from the audience. Industrial biotechnology and net zero: the role of standards and innovation
IBioIC’s CEO Mark Bustard joined a BSI hosted panel event during the COP26 fortnight on industrial biotechnology and the role of standards and innovation. Mark was joined by Sara Walton of BSI, Paul Mines CEO of Biome and Chair of the Industrial Biotechnology Leadership Forum (IBLF), Ian Fotheringham MD of Ingenza and Paul Bellow of Innovate UK. Mark told the panel how countries like Germany and France have embraced biobased solutions but that the UK is behind in that it has world leading science but not the manufacturing scale for the bioeconomy to succeed.
