Skills programme bringing students and industry together

by Ian Archer, IBioIC Technical Director

Our new PhDs were introduced to the IBioIC “Ready for Industry” programme at their induction in October. They were then joined by the rest of the students for a 2-day introduction course on carbon accounting (“How good are my bananas” -  with apologies to Mike Berners-Lee) delivered by Clare Wharmby of the ECCI culminating with the students solving real sustainability problems for global clothing brand PVH (home to Calvin Klein).

With teaching beginning to get back to normal on the MSc, we are now in the process of arranging Project placements for this year’s students.

Please contact skills@ibioic.com if you would like to provide a project placement for one of this year’s superb cohort.

The “Retain and Inspire” programme for our HNDs at Glasgow Clyde College and Forth Valley College is also back up and running. As with all of the IBioIC Skills programme, our USP is that we seek to get students and industry in front of each other as frequently as possible. Retain and Inspire is a series of seminars, site visits and workshops for the HND students delivered by industrialists with a story to tell about their company and experience and an interest in accessing this valuable potential workforce.

Please contact skills@ibioic.com if you would like to meet the students, present to the students, or speak with them.
