Sugar beet re-introduction could create hundreds of jobs and support Scotland’s net zero goals, says new report
IBioIC set out a new vision for a Scotland’s bioeconomy in a new report for Scottish Enterprise. The report found that if Scotland opted to reshore bioethanol production at least 815 jobs could be created, and more than 280,000 tonnes of our carbon emissions could be reduced annually. The report and its headline findings received widespread coverage, kicking off in The Times and making the front page of The Courier. Dyneval lands £1.8 million investment for team expansion and product launch
Dyneval, IBioIC member and IBioIC EDGE Award winner, announced that it had secured more than £1.8 million of funding from investors ahead of expanding its team and product launch in 2022. IBioIC and its Business Engagement and Operations Director Liz Fletcher supported Dyneval’s announcement to the media. To support the investor readiness training programme and pitching event IBioIC was running through the bioeconomy cluster builder project, IBioIC placed a promotional piece in Young Company Finance Scotland to encourage applications to the programme.
The Scotsman’s Life Sciences Supplement
IBioIC CEO Mark Bustard was in the most recent edition of The Scotsman’s life sciences supplement as part of a big feature on life sciences. Mark was interviewed as one of Scotland’s life sciences leaders looking to motivate the next generation. As well as the print edition, Mark’s interview in the digital magazine can be found on pages 5-7, after Scottish Government Minister Ivan McKee’s interview.
Supporting the Advanced Therapies Skills Training Network
To support the Advanced Therapies Skills Training Network (ATSTN) training programme IBioIC is involved with, IBioIC supported Dr Jonathan Dempsey, managing director of Pathway Biopharma and training partner in the ATSTN by placing a piece in The National on how talent and skills will lead the biotech revolution in Scotland. The piece featured in the print edition of The National as well.
The future of biomanufacturing
IBioIC’s CEO Mark Bustard took part in a roundtable discussion with Health Tech World alongside the National Horizons Centre, Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies and CPI. The video article covered the challenges and opportunities of UK biomanufacturing and the barriers the sector is looking to address.
