World leading RNA training academy announced
In August, the National Horizons Centre, in partnership with CPI, announced the launch of a new RNA National Training Academy in Darlington to help protect the world against future pandemics and infectious diseases.
This further addition to the National Horizons Centre's already world leading training courses in advanced therapies, vaccines and bioprocessing, establishes the Tees Valley as the #1 place in the UK for the bioindustry's training needs.
This sits alongside CPI’s new RNA Centre of Excellence to boost the development, scale-up and manufacture of novel RNA therapies and vaccines – where CPI’s extensive experience in lipid nanoparticle technology and state-of-the-art equipment to develop and manufacture RNA therapeutics of the future.
Now that we have approved RNA medicines on the market, we can expect an influx of products entering clinical and commercial manufacture beyond the COVID-19 pandemic. This means there is urgent need to provide industry and academia with the relevant facilities and skills to position the UK as the global leader in RNA R&D, process development and manufacture.
To prepare for global demand for this exciting emerging technology and to drive the crucial life science skills needed to support this emerging industry, the new National Training Academy for RNA Therapeutics and Vaccines Manufacture has been formed a series of courses to upskill technicians and scientists in the development and manufacture of RNA will be available from January 2022.
